Brilliant Aurora Australis Expected to Illuminate NSW Skies Again Tonight

With winter’s arrival, the stunning Aurora Australis, or Southern Lights, is captivating skygazers across Australia. A recent geomagnetic storm produced vibrant displays of pink and green hues, particularly in Tasmania, but sightings were reported as far north as regional New South Wales, including Tamworth and the Riverina region. Onlookers also caught glimpses over the Blue Mountains and coastal areas south of Sydney. As the Australian Space Weather Forecasting Centre indicates elevated geomagnetic activity may continue until June 3, enthusiasts are encouraged to seek out dark, elevated locations for the best viewing conditions.
