Lighting Science Group Selected for Pioneering Smart City Project in Pakistan

Lighting Science Group (LSG) has been announced as a founding partner in a $200 million initiative to transform Karachi, Pakistan, into the country’s first “Smart City.” In collaboration with AmeriGroup and the Sindh government, LSG will implement a resilient infrastructure lighting and security system using its innovative FreeLED integrated solar LED lighting technology. This modernization will not only enhance safety and ambiance for Karachi’s nearly 24 million residents but also incorporate additional features like wireless Internet and CCTV in its initial $20 million phase. Supported by Pegasus Capital Advisors, LSG aims to revitalize the city by promoting energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions, aligning with global trends in urban infrastructure development. The project is anticipated to significantly improve citizen wellbeing and attract investment, ultimately positioning Karachi as a leader in urban innovation.
